Barbara Bradley Ray Bradley
How may we help?” Those few words convey the essence of Ray and Barb Bradley of Bradley & Associates. The individuals who are active volunteers know that there is an axiom which states that 20% of the people do 80% of the work. Certainly, anyone who has ever “volunteered” with Barb knows she embodies the can do attitude which is so necessary for any charitable project. She is not one to be content with waiting for something to happen. Ray and Barb are both Spokane natives. Ray graduated from Eastern Washington State College-which is now known as Eastern Washington University-in 1968. He and Barb were married on August 23, 1969. In 1972, he became a partner in a Spokane CPA firm. The firm decided to branch out to Coeur d’ Alene in 1976, and Ray was chosen to run the branch. In 1984, Ray decided to leave the firm and open his own business. Bradley & Associates have been here ever since. “One of our early clients was Al Bowen, who happened to be very involved in the NIBCA at that time. Al convinced me that joining the NIBCA would be a good idea, and we have been members since 1982,” laughed Ray. Al’s wife, Cheryl, thought it would be a good idea for Barb to join the Women’s Council, and the Bradley’s have been involved ever since. Bradley & Associates is a full service accounting firm. Most of their clients are companies which are large enough to need an in house CPA but are too small to afford one. Some of the things which they offer include payroll, administering retirement plans, tax work, general business consulting and financial statements. Their clients have internet access to their sophisticated financial program which can do such things as accounts receivables, accounts payables, inventory control, payroll and job costing; all integrated into a general ledger. “We also do quite a few individual tax returns as well,” explained Ray. “As long as they pay,” Barb said laughingly -“And it is legal” joked Ray- “We will do most anything”. Being natives, they both know the area intimately. “We love the area, and always have,” stated Ray. They both are very active in community groups. Barb is the incoming Chair of the CDA Chamber of Commerce. She also is on the board of the Women’s Center and the Summer Theatre. She is involved with the Lake City Playhouse and Soroptomists. And of course she is very active in the NIBCA, serving on the board as a life director, as well as actively participating in the Women’s Council. Did I miss anything, Barb?” Ray is on the Kootenai County Waterway Board, and is a past officer and director of the Kootenai Medical Center Foundation, The Spokane River Association and Concerned Business of North Idaho. The Rotary Club is also one of the beneficiaries of Ray’s charitable involvement. “We believe in supporting the community and the industries which support us. Giving back is very important to us,” stated Barb. Both Bradley’s are voracious readers. They make their home on the Spokane River, and enjoy sitting on their deck enjoying the view. Spending time together traveling is also one of their “hobbies.” Both are big Mariner and Seahawk fans, and at least once a year they travel to Seattle to enjoy a game. Bradley & Associates has prospered largely due to word of mouth advertising. When a business does a job, and does it well, word will spread.
